WELCOME TO
TEXAS SWING

|
This is the page of my 'home' club, Texas Swing. Texas Swing members dance A2 most Fridays at the Dibden Purlieu W.I. hall and enjoy the good fortune of dancing to three callers: Keith Lovegrove, Rob Branson and Rob James. Latest Friday Founded by Texans Al (who was temporarily transferred to Exxon's Fawley site) and Linda Singleton in 1990, the club developed to be the strongest square dance club in the south of England during the early and middle part of the decade. When Al and Linda were 'moved on' by Exxon, the club continued to be run, firstly by a co-ordinator (Norman Foster), and then by a committee. In 2004, personality and policy differences resulted in a formal division after a vote by all the club members. Plus and Mainstream dancers formed a new club (Waterside Squares) whilst Advanced dancers continued to organise and promote Texas Swing. The club is still a 'member run' club although the current organisation is much less formal than in previous years.
